Auto Closing Test Fixture

The Auto Closing function in Test Fixtures is an advanced solution that automates the closing processes of the fixture, further streamlining the testing process with minimal manual intervention. Similar to the Auto Open function, Auto Closing will assist with  improving efficiency and reducing manual effort during the testing of units under test (UUT).

This fixture uses two pneumatic cylinders controlled by a pneumatic solenoid valve, which is integrated into the UUT’s testing programme. After the test is complete, the gate automatically opens and is held in place by gas stays on each side. Once the new UUT is inserted by either an operator or a robot, the gate automatically closes, initiating the next testing cycle.

To ensure operator safety and prevent damage to the fixture, the system is equipped with either a laser safety barrier or a pressure sensor. The laser safety barrier stops the gate from closing if an operator’s hand or a robot passes through it. Alternatively, the pressure sensor prevents the gate from closing if it detects contact with an object, such as an operator’s hand or a robot.

The Auto Close feature provides a fully automated solution for closing test fixtures. This fixture significantly enhances safety and efficiency in automated testing environments. The automatic closing feature, combined with safety mechanisms, minimises the risk of injury or damage, making it ideal for high-volume production lines where speed and safety are essential.
