Vectorless Test

Forwessun offers advanced vectorless testing technologies like Testjet, VTEP, and NanoVTEP, providing comprehensive, unpowered connectivity tests for device pins, ensuring reliable circuit board testing.

Vectorless Testing Technologies: Testjet, VTEP, and NanoVTEP

At Forwessun, we leverage the latest vectorless testing technologies to provide precise, unpowered connectivity testing for printed circuit boards (PCBs). These technologies—Testjet, VTEP, and NanoVTEP—are essential for testing the connection between each pin on a device and the PCB, ensuring reliability and quality in circuit board assembly.

How Vectorless Testing Works

All three technologies—Testjet, VTEP, and NanoVTEP—work on a similar principle. The 3070 system uses the Testjet, VTEP, or NanoVTEP hardware to measure the capacitance from each pin of a device to the vectorless probe. This process is repeated for every pin on the device, except power and ground pins. Pins that are tied together are treated as a single entity during the test. This vectorless approach provides a reliable, cost-effective solution for testing PCBs without the need to power the device, reducing the risk of damage and ensuring better coverage in detecting open connections.

Evolution of Vectorless Testing

  • Testjet (1990s): The original vectorless testing technology, introduced in the 1990s. It allowed for efficient, unpowered testing of device pin connectivity, setting the foundation for future innovations.
  • VTEP (2000s): Building on the success of Testjet, VTEP (Vectorless Test Extended Performance) emerged around 2000. This technology offered improved accuracy and functionality for more complex testing environments.
  • NanoVTEP (Latest Generation): NanoVTEP is the most recent advancement in vectorless testing. This new hardware design allows for even more precise measurements and features a smaller amplifier board, which enables testing of smaller-sized devices. It represents the cutting-edge in vectorless testing, ensuring high performance in a compact form factor.

CET Technology: Powered Vectorless Testing

In addition to the unpowered vectorless testing options, Forwessun also employs CET (Controlled Energy Test) technology, a powered version of vectorless testing. CET is particularly useful for testing pins on connectors where direct access may not be available. By connecting to a JTAG device, CET can detect open pins on connectors, providing another layer of test coverage for complex assemblies.

At Forwessun, our expertise in these advanced vectorless testing technologies allows us to provide our clients with highly accurate and efficient test solutions, ensuring their PCB assemblies meet the highest standards of quality.
