Forwessun Trio to Tackle Three Peaks for Life-Saving Fundraiser
On the 16th of August, three members of the Forwessun team, Ben, Josh, and Cain, will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, covering 24 miles and climbing over 2,100 metres in total. They’re doing it to raise money for a life-saving cancer treatment that isn’t currently available through the NHS.
Update – Challenge Completed!
A huge congratulations to Ben, Josh, and Cain for successfully completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, all in support of an incredibly important cause.
We’re proud of their incredible achievement and the determination they showed throughout the challenge. Their efforts are helping to raise vital funds for life-saving treatment that could truly make a real difference.
The fundraiser is still open, so if you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time to show your support. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will help towards accessing the treatment.
What’s the Challenge?
Ben, Josh, and Cain will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a demanding 24-mile route that includes climbing Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres), and Ingleborough (723 metres), all within a 12-hour window. This trek isn’t just a long-distance walk; it involves more than 1,600 metres of total ascent, rugged terrain, and constant elevation changes. It’s a true test of stamina, both physically and mentally, and one that the team has committed to in support of a very personal cause.
Why They’re Doing It
Ben’s girlfriend’s mum has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour). She has been told that her current treatment options are limited, with only a few months left. However, there is a drug available that could help change everything. A targeted drug called Avapritinib has shown highly promising results for tackling this specific type of cancer.
Unfortunately, Avapritinib isn’t available through the NHS and must be paid for privately. The goal of the fundraiser is to help cover the cost of this treatment.
